爲表彰其爲貧困家庭女孩教育所做的貢獻，雲南省麗江市華坪女子高級中學校長張桂梅日前被授予“時代楷模”稱號。

Zhang Guimei, the principal of Huaping High School for Girls, based in Lijiang city, Southwest China's Yunnan province, has been granted the title "Role Model of the Times" in recognition of her dedication to the education for girls from poor families.

張桂梅同志紮根邊疆教育一線40餘年，默默耕耘、無私奉獻，爲了改變貧困地區女孩失學輟學現狀，在黨和政府以及社會各界的幫助下，推動創建了一所免費招收貧困女生的高中，2008年建校以來已幫助1800多位女孩走出大山走進大學，用知識改變貧困山區女孩命運，用教育阻斷貧困代際傳遞；她教書育人、立德樹人，引導學生從小樹立遠大志向，倡導女性自尊自信自立自強，注重言傳身教，傳承紅色基因，讓“感黨恩、聽黨話、跟黨走”成爲廣大學生自覺追求；她堅韌純粹、甘當人梯，用愛心和智慧點亮萬千鄉村女孩的人生夢想，展現了當代人民教師的高尚師德和責任擔當，被孩子們親切地稱爲“張媽媽”。她曾當選黨的十七大代表，榮獲“全國三八紅旗手標兵”“全國優秀教師”“全國教書育人楷模”“全國五一勞動獎章”等榮譽稱號。
