張育成引爆「歧視亞裔」問題 美國主流媒體相當關注
張育成在13日發生再見失誤，釀成印地安人最後一刻輸球，不料這卻讓他遭到語言霸凌，甚至出現「歧視性」字眼。然而此事件，也引發美國當今「亞裔遭歧視」的敏感神經，多家主流媒體如《運動畫刊》、《美聯社》也相當關注。
張育成在該場賽事結束後，在個人社羣貼出遭到酸民辱罵的留言，出現如「混蛋」、「亞洲腦殘」、「SARS、肺炎病毒」等字眼，但這位臺灣好手仍展現高EQ，表示「我接受所有評論，但那些歧視性的言論真的沒有必要」。

對於張育成遭到種族歧視，也在美國社會獲得廣泛關注，如《運動畫刊》、《美聯社》、《紐約時報》、《芝加哥論壇報》、《NBC》、《ESPN》等主流媒體都出刊相關新聞。
此歧視事件，也讓印地安人主帥法蘭柯納（Terry Francona）相當不滿，直言張育成的守備失誤單純是比賽的一部分，並強調「無知、愚蠢的種族歧視不該出現在任何地方」。此外，印地安人球團也公開力挺張育成，表示「我們在你背後撐着」。
