Founded in 2022 by Brett Adcock, known for his ventures with Vettery and Archer Aviation, Figure's mission is to develop robots that work alongside humans in real-world settings. The company has progressed from its initial prototype, the Figure 01—which demonstrated walking and task management at BMW's manufacturing plant—to this more advanced version.
Adcock noted that Figure AI aims to introduce humanoid robots capable of performing commercial activities. "We hope to be among the first to bring truly useful and usable humanoid robot products to market," he said.
The Figure 02 stands out due to its extensive redesign of both hardware and software. Key among its improvements is a collaboration with OpenAI, which is renowned for its advanced natural language processing models like ChatGPT.
