位於大洋洲的島嶼國家東加（The Kingdom of Tonga）發生規模6.5的地震。根據美國地質調查局，雖然發生地震，但當地並未發佈海嘯警告；地震發生在100.2公里的深度，震央位於東加首都努瓜婁發以北約85公里處。
