比利時王位第一順位繼承人伊莉莎白公主（Princess Elisabeth）9月開始進入布魯塞爾皇家軍事學院，接受爲期一年的的軍事訓練，王室也分享出數張公主身着迷彩服、手端槍桿的英姿勃發訓練照，顯見公主巾幗不讓鬚眉的氣概。

據《布魯塞爾時報》報導，伊莉莎白公主自英國威爾斯的大西洋書院（高中）畢業後返回比利時，並在2日開始進入列日省比特根巴赫的埃爾森伯恩營地（Camp Elsenborn），接受軍事訓練課程，課程內容包括社會科學及軍事指導。
布魯塞爾皇家軍事學院表示，在在訓練過程中，伊莉莎白公主將學習保家衛國的國防價值觀，如紀律、尊重、承諾及勇氣等精神，並練習射擊、行軍和迷彩僞裝等戰鬥技巧。
負責學院一年級課程的範哈姆麥特少校（Isabel Vanhavermaet）說，「能夠和伊莉莎白公主共同訓練相當榮幸，不過我們會像對待其他學生一樣對待她。」
